{"id":521,"date":"2009-11-07T09:17:55","date_gmt":"2009-11-07T13:17:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/?p=3928"},"modified":"2023-07-09T08:40:46","modified_gmt":"2023-07-09T12:40:46","slug":"be-am6a-power-supply","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/2009\/11\/be-am6a-power-supply\/","title":{"rendered":"BE AM6A power supply"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Another picture from my collection, this one is the back side of a power supply module from a Broadcast Electronics AM6A transmitter:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/BE-AM6A-power-supply.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"550\" height=\"413\" src=\"https:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/BE-AM6A-power-supply.jpg\" alt=\"Bang!\" class=\"wp-image-522\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/BE-AM6A-power-supply.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/BE-AM6A-power-supply-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Bang!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It happened during power up from 1 KW to 5 KW and it was quite loud, as I was standing right next to the transmitter.\u00a0 The exploded part is a 0.1 uf capacitor that looks like an add-on.\u00a0 In fact, some of the other power supplies don&#8217;t have it.\u00a0 It also took out the 20 amp slow blow fuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I like the exploded look of the board, kind of like on The Road Runner, when <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Road_Runner\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wyle E.
