{"id":2376,"date":"2011-02-24T07:33:33","date_gmt":"2011-02-24T11:33:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/?p=3928"},"modified":"2023-04-30T14:45:10","modified_gmt":"2023-04-30T18:45:10","slug":"the-led-work-light","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/2011\/02\/the-led-work-light\/","title":{"rendered":"The LED work light"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>As is often the case when doing studio wiring, some type of work light is needed, especially when working inside studio furniture. &nbsp;Having a good work light makes it easier to see wire colors and usually means fewer mistakes, thus the installation work goes faster. &nbsp;I remember being questioned by the CFO of the last company I worked for when making purchases like this in the past:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CFO &#8220;Fifty-nine dollars for a work light? \u00a0Did we really need that?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Myself: &#8220;Yes.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CFO:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Myself:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CFO: &#8220;Uh, care to expound on that at all?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Myself: &#8220;No.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The studio I was working in yesterday didn&#8217;t even have its overhead lights installed yet, so work lights were a must.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Normally, some type of halogen or incandescent light is used. \u00a0The downside to these types of work lights is excess heat, especially inside studio furniture cabinets. \u00a0I have often felt like the side of my face was getting sunburned when working in close quarters with one of these units.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fortunately, we bought this light:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/LED-work-light.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/LED-work-light.jpg\" alt=\"LED work light\" class=\"wp-image-2390\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/LED-work-light.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/LED-work-light-150x123.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/LED-work-light-300x246.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/LED-work-light-400x328.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">LED work light<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/LED-work-light2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"650\" height=\"550\" src=\"https:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/LED-work-light2.jpg\" alt=\"LED work light\" class=\"wp-image-2391\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/LED-work-light2.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/LED-work-light2-150x126.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/LED-work-light2-300x253.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/LED-work-light2-400x338.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">LED work light<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Say or think what you will about global warming, environmentalists and so on. \u00a0The high-efficiency LED light works very well and kept me from boiling when punching down wires. \u00a0As with most LED lights, it has a high blue content, which most people find a little harsh. \u00a0I like this light temperature for detail wiring work. \u00a0It has an internal battery plus a plug-in wall wart for recharging and using as a wired light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not that I have any loyalty to that particular brand, but the light worked very well. &nbsp;I am not sure how durable it is, it seems a little light duty. &nbsp;That being said, I&#8217;d recommend it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As is often the case when doing studio wiring, some type of work light is needed, especially when working inside studio furniture. &nbsp;Having a good work light makes it easier to see wire colors and usually means fewer mistakes, thus the installation work goes faster. &nbsp;I remember being questioned by the CFO of the last &hellip;
