Near as I can tell, this computer dates from about 1985 or so, it looks remarkably like my Apple IIe of the same vintage. \u00a0We used an earlier model TRS-80 in high school, that model had a cassette deck as the data storage device. \u00a0These have 5 1\/4 inch floppy disks. \u00a0I used my Apple IIe as a gloried type writer, mostly for college papers. \u00a0I did manage to write some basic programs, no doubt copied from somewhere else.<\/p>\n<p>For the day though, saving something for later editing, even to a floppy drive, was an order of magnitude over the single spaced type written page.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2229\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2229\" style=\"width: 650px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/TRS-80.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2229\" title=\"TRS-80\" src=\"https:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/TRS-80.jpg\" alt=\"Tandy TRS-80 Model 4D computer\" width=\"650\" height=\"517\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/TRS-80.jpg 650w, https:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/TRS-80-150x119.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/TRS-80-300x238.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.engineeringradio.us\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/01\/TRS-80-400x318.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2229\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Tandy TRS-80 Model 4D computer<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>There are actually two of these computers, serial numbers 7086 and 7128. \u00a0I have no idea whether they work. \u00a0 I&#8217;d donate them to a museum if there were one that was interested. \u00a0Otherwise, they may sit in the corner for another twenty years or so.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>File under: You can find the darnest things at the transmitter site.
