Sounds like you are keeping fairly busy! And since radio advertising revenues are up about 5% in the last quarter, Cumulus is spending some money. However, I don’t see it lasting.

  • Paul Thurst

Oh, Lightner Electronics and Dave S. from Cumulus have been doing the heavy lifting. We are just lending a hand here or there when needed.

  • B.Wheatley

Did you research the Wheatnet at all?
Thats some pretty slick gear too.

I love the Axia gear. What’s really cool is that nearly everything you want to make it do can be accomplished about 5 different ways. Works great with Op-X too (which I assume you’re using).

@George, Yes, being a Cumulus radio station, they are installing Op-X. All things considered, the Axia gear seems pretty slick. I am not greatly impressed with the faders, but I will reserve judgement until the system is in use for 6-8 months. It will be very interesting to see this thing in operation, which should be happening tomorrow (Thursday 2/24).

Hey Paul, In regards to the faders, Mike Dosch is a bit of snobby guy when it comes to things like this. He has years of experience from PR+E and Axia and chose these specifically for there quality. They are designed to last years and years. They even have a unique design that keeps liquid from getting into slide. Get ready it’ll be awhile before they go! Best, Jim

Hey Jim, it’s been a while, I think last time I spoke with you, you were working for brand x. Regarding the faders, I am glad to hear of their spill resistant nature. We all know that no one ever spills anything on a console, the coffee or worse soda just magically materializes in the bottom! As a point of clarification: If you compare the feel of the PR&E BMX II faders to the Axia faders, the Axia faders do not feel as rugged. That does not necessarily mean they aren’t, it is just my observation. Anyway, I like the Axia equipment and based on what I’ve seen so far, I’d recommend it to clients, so not really a criticism.
