I have been watching the FCC's actions for over 40 years and when GE sold their stations in the '80's, I knew what was coming. No more protectionism! Slowly but surely, since the Commissioners no longer have engineering assistants we are headed back to pre-1934 as far as allocation engineering is concerned. The lawyers and economists know far better how to oversee and regulate the domestic electromagnetic spectrum. Since spectrum auctions began, look at all the money they have taken in! And, do you think this return to Feudalism makes the "kings" care about interference? They care only about the money, but they are driving on an almost empty tank as terrestrial broadcasting as we know it is running out of gas. So, I believe the FCC will issue a 'last gasp' of auctions until the domestic broadcast bands are virtually worthless.
